About the Author

John Reed (1887-1920) was an American journalist, poet, and revolutionary. He is best known for his book Ten Days That Shook the World, which chronicled the Russian Revolution of 1917. Reed was a strong supporter of the Bolsheviks, and he played an active role in the early days of the Soviet Union. He died of typhus in 1920, shortly after returning from a trip to the Soviet Union.
